The outbreak of Covid-19 has caused both national and global repercussions. As the world was preparing to mitigate the losses, the conflict in Ukraine emerged as another shock. Bangladesh is also bearing the consequences. The prices of different commodities have soared in the domestic market of Bangladesh.
বাংলাদেশ জাতীয় সংসদে বৈষম্য বিরোধী বিল ২০২২ উত্থাপন করা হয়েছে। নাগরিক সমাজের বিভিন্ন পর্যায় থেকে বহুদিন ধরেই এমন একটি আইন প্রণয়নের দাবি জানানো হয়েছে। ২০১৭ সালের ডিসেম্বরে মাসে এসডিজি বাস্তবায়নে নাগরিক প্ল্যাটফর্ম, বাংলাদেশ এর আয়োজনে অনুষ্ঠিত নাগরিক সম্মেলনের ঘোষণাপত্রেও এই আইনের দাবি করা হয়েছিল।
As the COVID-19 is superimposed on pre-existing disparities, the repercussions for SDGs have been channelled to vulnerable groups, exposing them to a disproportionate brunt and risking the core principle of the agenda of leaving no one behind. COVID-19 has affected almost all SDG indicators.
Citizen’s Platform for SDG’s, Bangladesh organised an online Ted Talk Session on Sunday, 20 February 2022. The primary objective of the session was to produce and disseminate knowledge and ideas from successful young entrepreneurs to a group of young job seekers by allowing the latter to dive deep into the emerging and dynamic demands of job markets in line with the future employment shifts
Bangladesh is currently dealing with the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic which has both impacted the traditionally “left behind” communities disproportionately and also created a new group of “pushed behind” people. The immediate impact of economic adversities has rapidly translated into health, employment, education and other socio-economic fallouts.
অতিমারির ফলে গতবছরের মার্চ মাস থেকে প্রায় এক বছরের বেশি সময় ধরে বন্ধ ছিল সকল শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠান। পরিস্থিতি বিবেচনা করে গত সেপ্টেম্বর ২০২১ থেকে সরকারের নির্দেশনা অনুযায়ী সীমিত আকারে স্কুলগুলো খোলা হয়েছে। কিন্ত স্কুল খোলার পর দেখা যাচ্ছে ‘ঝরে পড়া’ শিশুর সংখ্যা আশংকাজনক ভাবে বেড়ে গেছে। সাম্প্রতিক গবেষণা ও জরিপ অনুযায়ী এই সমস্যার মূল কারণ বাল্যবিবাহ এবং শিশুশ্রম।
বাংলাদেশের বিভিন্ন অঞ্চলে হিন্দু সম্প্রদায়ের সবচেয়ে বড় ধর্মীয় উৎসব দুর্গাপূজাকে কেন্দ্র করে যেসব সহিংসতার ঘটনা ঘটেছে তার প্রতিক্রিয়ায় দেশের নাগরিক সমাজ তীব্র ক্ষোভ প্রকাশ করেছে। নাগরিক সমাজ মনে করে সাম্প্রদায়িক সহিংসতা রোধে রাষ্ট্রের আরো কার্যকরি ভূমিকা রাখা উচিৎ ছিল।
বিশ্বব্যাপী তৈরি পোশাক ভ্যালু চেইন বা মূল্য শৃঙ্খল কোভিড-১৯ অতিমারির কারণে বিভিন্নভাবে ক্ষতিগ্রস্থ হয়েছে। সাম্প্রতিককালে এই খাতে বেশ কয়েকটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ দ্রুত রূপান্তর লক্ষ্য করা যাচ্ছে। এটি উত্পাদন কাঠামোর পরিবর্তন, ভোক্তাদের চাহিদা, পণ্যের মিশ্রণ, বাজারের গতিশীলতা এবং চতুর্থ শিল্প বিপ্লবের সাথে সম্পর্কিত।
বাংলাদেশের যুব সমাজ নানা ধরণের আর্থ-সামাজিক বৈচিত্র নিয়ে একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ গোষ্ঠী। দেশের উন্নয়নের মূল চালিকা শক্তি হিসেবে এই যুব সমাজকেই চিহ্নিত করা হয়েছে বিভিন্ন আলোচনায়। কিন্তু এটি অনস্বীকার্য যে, চলমান কোভিড-১৯ অতিমারির অভিঘাত সব থেকে বেশি পড়েছে দেশের এই যুব সমাজের ওপরে।
Youth in Bangladesh do not belong to any homogenous group; instead, it incorporates gender diversity, disability, ethnic/religious minority, and vulnerable groups, including refugees, geographically or professionally lagged behind community, etc. At the same, the youths have been considered as the driving force towards the country’s development.
