The Citizen’s Platform for SDGs, Bangladesh mourns the passing of Mr M. Tajul Islam (79), former Director of Federation of NGOs in Bangladesh (FNB). Mr Islam breathed his last on 11 December 2017 at 9:30 p.m. at his Green Road residence. He was buried at Banani graveyard. FNB is one of the Partner organisations of the Platform, and Mr Islam has substantial contribution in many of the Platform activities.
Mr Islam served for the FNB since 2003. He was the Director of Public Affairs at BRAC from 1994 to 2003 and Minister (press) at Embassy of Bangladesh, Belgium and Washington DC from 1987 to 1990. He was also Press Secretary to the President during 1984-1987. He also served as Director of Public Affairs at Biman Bangladesh Airlines from 1979-84, Director at Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1976-1978 and Director at Bangladesh Water Development Board from 1972-1975. He was also famous newspresenter of BTV and newsreader of Bangladesh Betar.
He left behind two daughters, one son and four grand-children. Mr Islam always was an active voice in bringing coordination among the development efforts of the government agencies and non-government organisations (NGOs). His contribution in the development sector in Bangladesh will always be remembered.
