A media fellowship has been announced by HEKS/EPER for working print and broadcast journalists on 2nd October 2018 to encourage journalists to promote Dalit and plainland Adibashi rights issues. At a workshop on ‘Rights of the Dalits and Plainland Adibashis: Role of the Media’ organized by HEKS/EPER and Creative Media Ltd. (CML) at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU), HEKS/EPER announced the ‘Journalist Fellowship Programme’. This fellowship will be provided to ten working journalists in print and electronic media. Each of them will be producing three reports from October 2018 to December 2018. The two best reports from print and electronic media will subsequently be awarded.

The chief guest on the occasion, Iqbal Sobhan Choudhury, Honorable Media Affairs Advisor to the Prime Minister said that, “Dalit and plainland Adibashi rights issues are a matter of national concern. Journalists should set an agenda to sensitize policy makers and mass people in this regard.”

A number of journalists participated in the workshop including prominent journalist Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul, Syed Ishtiaque Reza, Syed Borhan Kabir and others. It is to be mentioned that, a HEKS/EPER project PIDIM is working to ensure constitutional rights of Dalits and plainland Adibashis through institutional mechanisms.
