As the government of Bangladesh prepares itself to undertake a Voluntary National Review (VNR) of the implementation of the SDGs for the United Nations, the Citizen’s Platform for SDGs, Bangladesh has decided to prepare the state of delivery of the global agenda in Bangladesh. The Citizen’s Platform will also provide inputs to the government in its process of preparing the VNR.
This was decided in a meeting of the Advisory Group of the Citizen’s Platform held on 4 January 2017 at the BRAC Centre. At the meeting the Advisory Group was informed about the activities of the Platform by Dr Debapriya Bhattacharya, Convenor of the Platform.
The members of the Advisory Group later provided guidance regarding the upcoming activities of the Platform. The meeting agreed to effectively engage with the government’s effort to implement SDGs in Bangladesh as well as to hold meetings in the divisional headquarters to generate awareness and to provide voice to the marginalised sections of the society.

Core Group Members of the Platform Advocate Sultana kamal, Human Rights Activists; Dr Iftekharuzzaman, Executive Director, TIB; Ms Rasheda K Choudhury, Former Advisor to the Caretaker Government and Executive Director, CAMPE; Ms Shaheen Anam, Executive Director; Manusher Jonno Foundation, Professor Mustafizur Rahman, Executive Director, CPD; Mr Asif Ibrahim, Former President, DCCI and Vice-Chairman, NewAge Group of Industries; and Ms Anisatul Fatema Yousuf, Coordinator, Citizen’s Platform also attended the meeting.
