On January 02, 2024, Bangladesh officially provided its expression of interest to prepare its third Voluntary National Review (VNR) for the upcoming High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) 2025. From the perspective of SDG implementation, this review seeks to strengthen government policies and institutions, mobilise multi-stakeholder support, and forge partnerships in the attainment of SDGs by 2030.
কারিগরি শিক্ষা ও বৃত্তিমূলক প্রশিক্ষণ সরকারের একটি গূরুত্বপূর্ণ কার্যক্রম হলেও কর্মসংস্থান নিশ্চিতকরণ এবং কারিগরিভাবে দক্ষ ব্যক্তিদের জন্য কর্মসংস্থান অনুকূল করার ক্ষেত্রে এখনো আশানুরূপ পরিবর্তন হয়নি। কারিগরি শিক্ষার মান, দেশ ও বিশ্ববাজারের বাজারচাহিদা অনুযায়ী উপযোগী পাঠ্যক্রম তৈরি, শিক্ষক সংকট, পাঠদানের মান, অবকাঠামো উন্নয়ন ও ব্যবস্থাপনাগত দক্ষতা ইত্যাদি ক্ষেত্রে এখনও ঘাটতি রয়ে গেছে।
Amidst the ongoing socio-economic situation, the national budget 2024-25 was supposed to ensure stability, protection and reform for the left-behind population of the nation. The budget should have prioritised public services for the marginalised groups and supported them to cope with high commodity prices, along with addressing the rising inequality with fiscal policy tools, restoring macroeconomic stability while protecting economic growth and employment prospects.
বাংলাদেশের আদালতগুলোতে বর্তমানে প্রায় ৪২ লাখ মামলা বিচারাধীন আছে। স্থানীয় পর্যায়ে বিরোধ মীমাংসায় গ্রাম আদালতের এখতিয়ার ৩ লাখ টাকায় উত্তীর্ণ হলেও পৌর বোর্ড আইনের মাধ্যমে বিরোধ নিষ্পত্তি এখনও ২৫ হাজার টাকার মধ্যেই সীমাবদ্ধ। আদালতে সালিশ বা আপসযোগ্য বিরোধগুলো নিষ্পত্তিতে দীর্ঘ সময়ের প্রয়োজন হওয়ায় আর্থিক ক্ষতি, হয়রানি ও বিভিন্ন সমস্যার সম্মুখীন হতে হয় বিচারপ্রার্থীদের।
বাংলাদেশে সরকারি কারিগরি ও বৃত্তিমূলক শিক্ষা এবং প্রশিক্ষণ বিষয়ে সিপিডি সম্প্রতি পঞ্চগড়, সুনামগঞ্জ ও সাতক্ষীরা জেলায় একটি সামাজিক নিরীক্ষা কার্যক্রম পরিচালনা করেছে। পঞ্চগড় জেলার তেঁতুলিয়া, আটোয়ারী ও সদর উপজেলায় কারিগরি ও বৃত্তিমূলক শিক্ষার সাথে সংশ্লিষ্ট বর্তমান ও সাবেক শিক্ষার্থী, অভিভাবক, শিক্ষক ও প্রশিক্ষক এবং সরকারি কর্মকর্তাদের নিয়ে পরিচালিত এ নিরীক্ষা কার্যক্রমে বিভিন্ন তথ্য উঠে আসে।
Public opinion was collected through a pre-budget survey titled ‘National Budget 2024-25: Your Expectations’ which was conducted nationwide using digital platforms and other means. The Citizen’s Platform has developed a set of budget recommendations based on the submissions from 39 partners, 2,249 Google Form fill-ups and 8,048 social media responses and presented at the dialogue. 66 partner organisations collaborated throughout the process with Citizen’s Platform.
কারিগরি শিক্ষা ও বৃত্তিমূলক প্রশিক্ষণ সরকারের একটি গুর্রুত্বপূর্ণ কার্যক্রম। কারিগরি শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানসমূহের কার্যক্রম ছাড়াও বিভিন্ন মন্ত্রণালয়ের আওতায় বৃত্তিমূলক প্রশিক্ষণ কার্যক্রম চলমান রয়েছে। যুব উন্নয়ন অধিদপ্তর, মহিলা ও শিশু বিষয়ক অধিদপ্তর, বাংলাদেশ জাতীয় মহিলা পরিষদ, ক্ষুদ্র ও কুটির শিল্প কর্পোরেশন (বিসিক) এর আওতায় শিক্ষিত-স্বল্পশিক্ষত যুব নারী-পুরুষদের প্রশিক্ষণ দেয়া হয়ে থাকে। বৃত্তিমূলক প্রশিক্ষণ শেষে অংশগ্রহণকারীদের উদ্যোক্তা হিসেবে কার্যক্রম শুরু করার জন্য আর্থিক সহায়তা দেয়া হয়।
On 4 March 2024, Citizen’s Platform in partnership with The Asia Foundation organised a roundtable discussion on 'Adaptive Practices of the CSOs in Challenging Times: Learnings from Cross-country Experiences'. Dr Nicola Nixon, Senior Director of Governance, The Asia Foundation (TAF) shared key findings and recommendations from a cross-country study on civic space, with a focus on South and Southeast Asian nations.
To formulate a comprehensive urban policy, a group of urban experts and Secretariat members of Citizen’s Platform sat with the Hon’ble Minister R. A. M Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury, MP, Ministry of Housing and Public Works on Monday, 12 February 2024.
In the current democratic scenario, citizens have to play an active role, which is more crucial than ever. If the traditional democratic system weakens ahead, social forces must step up. Remaining silent and relying on distant solutions is not an option; every citizen, particularly the youth, must actively contribute to the country's progress.
