The Citizen’s Platform for SDGs, Bangladesh started 2023 with consultation meetings with Core Group members, Partner Organisations, Supporters Group, and International Development Partners to finalise its work programme for the year. The organisation also plans to involve representatives from the private sector and media professionals in its upcoming engagements.

In 2022, the Citizen’s Platform engaged marginalised communities, from over 25 districts, to gather evidence on local development experiences. The exercise revealed a substantial mismatch between local perspectives and national development narrative. This understanding was consolidated through a “Public Hearing” at the national level.

In 2023, the Citizen’s Platform aims to contribute to the formulation of an agenda for the next phase of Bangladesh’s development. This planned agenda is to promote building of and an inclusive and equitable economy and society. It will also work to develop an effective network of citizens and amplifying their voices.

The ultimate goal of the initiative of 2023 is to create an aspirational document through a participatory and robust process. This planned document would reflect the demands of citizens regarding Bangladesh’s development and democratic transition.
