The economic impact of COVID-19 has been far more profound compared to the health and social-related impacts for the marginalised population in Bangladesh. Apparently, all marginalised groups (LNOB and PNOB) could not fully recover from the deceleration of income and expenditure.

Citizen’s Platform for SDGs, Bangladesh conducted an online survey among young population to get a wider understanding about the youth agenda in COVID-19 situation. 67% of the respondents despite having need did not receive any support from either government or NGOs.

The government has various schemes and projects to create skill development and employment opportunities for the youth cohort of the country. But the public services, aimed for creating employment opportunities for the youth, are not being effective enough to meet the country’s long term employment target – 30 million jobs by 2030, due to the lack of coordination among various government agencies.
