Light House

Light House is a well reputed non-profit voluntary development organization working for the development of rural and urban asset less poor, marginalized and high risk population particularly the landless, homeless, sex worker, drug users both injecting and heroin smokers, men who have sex with men (MSM) and Hijra with transgender, distressed, school dropouts, child labor, Adibashi and other disadvantaged adults and children in Bangladesh. It is a leading Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in Bangladesh that was founded in 1988 following devastating and gigantic Flood. Feeling concern, a group of young and energetic men joined together to work for the flood victims. One of those members, Md Harun-or-Rashid is now the Chief Executive of Light House. Gradually it becomes able to achieve people’s trusteeship, transparency within the working areas keeping up better relationship with civil society, district and upazilla level administration and local government. Light House has initiated a multi-dimensional project in Hard-to-Reach Areas of Rural Bangladesh with the financial support of well-known donors.

Light House Covid-19 response report June 2020

As part of COVID-19 response, Light House took immediate measures after the outbreaks began in Bangladesh. It has taken measures to save both community people and staffs from the virus Ensured hand wash point at office, ensure hygiene kits, mask, gloves, gowns, goggles and other PPEs.

Light House has given high priority to save people from coronavirus. It has formed a high power committee at central level to address this pandemic situation. Firstly-We have prepared and equipped our 550 staff, how to protect themselves. Hand gloves, hand sanitizer, musk and soap has been distributed to them accordingly.
