second-partners-meeting-of-the-citizens-platformThe second Partners’ meeting of the Citizen’s Platform for SDGs, Bangladesh was held on 30 October 2016 at Meghomala Conference Room, Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB), Dhaka. Chaired by Advocate Sultana Kamal, Core Group Member of the Platform, the meeting was participated by 27 Partner organisations. The Platform Convenor Dr Debapriya Bhattacharya and Core Group Members of the Platform Dr Iftekharuzzaman and Professor Mustafizur Rahman were also present at the meeting.

Dr Debapriya Bhattacharya informed the Partners with the summaries of the accomplished activities of the platform. The partners appreciated the Platform brochure and they suggested to incorporate the names and logos of Partner organisations with the next edition. Participants stressed on developing an effective structure of the Platform activities so that objectives, challenges and the state of progress can be traced easily. In view of engaging all relevant stakeholders with the Platform, it was suggested to be associated with the central government, local government, private sector, business leaders and development partners for the Platform activities.

Partners also stressed that establishing an issue-wise focal point in the government could be a working strategy. The Partners also shared interests to develop their work plan for the next year in line with the objectives of the Platform. To their end, forming collaboration, among the Partners who are working in the similar sectors, was also encouraged. It was also suggested to engage all stakeholders by effective reach-out activities and sensitise local media about the conceptual basis of the Platform.  Dr Debapriya also informed the participants about the upcoming workshop on “Appreciation Course on 2030 Agenda: Framework Issues and Implementation Challenges”. The template of the Platform website was shared with the Partners and they were requested to provide necessary information to prepare contents.
