As is known, a central overarching objective of the SDGs is to "leave no one behind". From this perspective, the Citizen’s Platform prepared the present volume in collaboration with its partners, and with support from eminent experts, recording the state of SDG delivery in the country.
Bangladesh's demographic landscape is characterised by a large young population, which offers both significant opportunities and confronts the country with formidable challenges. As is widely recognised, the country’s performance in terms of many socio-economic indicators has been quite impressive. However, cross-country experience shows that economic growth does not necessarily translate into more and better jobs, particularly for the poor, the disadvantaged, and those in danger of falling behind.
জাতীয় সংসদে ২০২২-২৩ অর্থবছরের প্রস্তাবিত বাজেট উত্তাপন করা হয়েছে এমন এক সময়ে যখন বাংলাদেশকে অতিমারী পরবর্তী অর্থনৈতিক অবস্থা থেকে উত্তরণ ও রাশিয়া-ইউক্রেন যুদ্ধের অভিঘাত-এ দ্বিবিধ চ্যালেঞ্জ মোকাবেলা করতে হচ্ছে।

এসডিজি বাস্তবায়নে নাগরিক প্ল্যাটফর্ম, বাংলাদেশ জাতীয় পর্যায় থেকে শুরু করে স্থানীয় ও তৃণমূল পর্যায় পর্যন্ত বিভিন্ন উন্নয়ন কর্মসূচি গ্রহণ করেছে। অথচ এ উন্নয়নের সুফল সমাজের পিছিয়ে পড়া জনগোষ্ঠীর কাছে পৌঁছাচ্ছে কিনা, সে সব বিষয়ে আলোচনা খুবই সীমিত। যাদের উদ্দেশ্য করে এসব উন্নয়নমূলক কার্যক্রম হাতে নেওয়া হচ্ছে, স্থানীয় পর্যায় থেকে এ বিষয়গুলোকে তারা কীভাবে মূল্যায়ন করছেন, তা সঠিকভাবে জানা জরুরি।
নাগরিক প্ল্যাটফর্ম ২০২২ সালে জেলা ও বিভাগীয় পর্যায়ে স্থানীয় নাগরিক সমাজের প্রতিনিধি, ব্যক্তি খাতের উদ্যোক্তা, ব্যবসায়ী চেম্বার, বেসরকারি উন্নয়ন প্রতিষ্ঠান, শিক্ষক ও শিক্ষার্থী, ব্যক্তি নাগরিক এবং বিশেষত পিছিয়ে পড়া জনগোষ্ঠীর অংশগ্রহণে বিভিন্ন পরামর্শ সভার আয়োজনের উদ্যোগ নেয়।
This note is inspired by the recent discourse around the plight of tea workers in Bangladesh to raise their daily wages. Despite a marginal increase in their wages as a result of the protest, it is inadequate in the face of current inflation, and their life and livelihoods continue to be under significant strain.
শ্রমবাজারের যোগান ও চাহিদার নির্ধারকগুলো প্রতিনিয়ত একটি পরিবর্তনের মধ্য দিয়ে যাচ্ছে। বর্তমান প্রেক্ষাপটে দেখা যাচ্ছে, বাংলাদেশের যুবরা শিক্ষা অর্জন করলেও চাকরি খুঁজে পাচ্ছে না। অন্যদিকে, চাকরিদাতাদের ভাষ্যমতে—তারা দক্ষ জনশক্তি খুঁজে পাচ্ছে না। অর্থাৎ এই দুই পক্ষের মধ্যে সামঞ্জস্যের অভাব ক্রমান্বয়ে প্রকট হয়ে উঠছে।
