VSO Bangladesh

Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) began in 1958 in the UK and has been working in Bangladesh since 1974 to ensure that marginalized women and men in some of the poorest districts can participate in, contribute to, and benefit from the country’s economic and social development.

VSO believes that people are the primary agents of change. Volunteers, giving their professional expertise, serve marginalized communities in more than 20 countries across the world. They share their skills with carefully selected partner organizations: learning their assets, strengths and needs, developing solutions and supporting national volunteers to lead the change.

VSO harnesses local and international youth volunteers, to work with young people and elders in target communities. They deliver critical information, focusing on the risks to health of young girls and legal protection for child rights. Their innovations include developing safe spaces where girls can discuss issues, and supporting the development of anti – child marriage committees.
