Major Professional Involvement
Ms. Choudhury is a Co-Founder of Global Campaign for Education (GCE), a civil society movement operating in more than hundred countries, with the mission to make sure that States act to deliver the right of everyone to a free, quality public education. She is also Executive Committee Member of the Institute for Inclusive Finance and Development (InM). She is an elected member of the Collective Consultation of NGOs (CCNGOs) Coordination Group, of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), representing its “Membership at Large” category.
Ms. Choudhury is the Convener of the National Forum for Social Protection (NFSP) and a Senior Fellow of Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS).
She was Adviser (De-facto cabinet Minister) in 2008, in charge of three ministries — Ministry of Primary & Mass Education, Ministry of Women & Children Affairs and Ministry of Cultural Affairs, in the non-party Interim Caretaker Government of Bangladesh.
Ms. Choudhury is the Editor of “Shakkharata Bulletin” (Literacy Bulletin), a monthly journal on literacy and education (published by CAMPE and disseminated all over the country particularly at the community level) that works as a bridge between development practitioners and academics in Bangladesh.
Ms. Choudhury regularly writes in national newspapers and magazines and often speaks on development issues particularly on the right to education and gender justice in national and international fora.
