International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD)
The ICCCAD is a research centre, based at the Independent University, Bangladesh. Situated in a country that has been widely recognised as one of the most vulnerable to climate change, ICCCAD’s mission is to gain and distribute knowledge on climate change and, specifically adaptation. Through being engaged in research that ranges from on-the ground experience of climate change to international negotiations, ICCCAD intends to be a global centre of excellence and build climate capacity in Bangladesh and the global South.
Although ICCCAD mainly focuses on issues surrounding adaptation to climate change, which falls directly under goal 13 of the Sustainable Development Goals, the organisation’s overall work spreads across multiple SDGs. Building resilience of the Bangladeshi people will not only equip them to combat the impacts of climate change but will also improve their social, economic and health conditions.
