Bangladesh Mahila Parishad (BMP)

BMP is a right based, activist, voluntary women’s organisation without any political party affiliation. BMP is working for gender equality, women’s human rights and empowerment with the vision to establish a democratic, non-communal, equity based humane, family, society and state. BMP is established in 1970. Voluntarism is the core value of BMP’s ideology. It designs its activities following the spirit of constitution of Bangladesh, UDHR, UNCEDAW, ICPD, Vienna Human Rights Declaration, CRC and other Human Rights Conventions envisaged with the constitution of the organisation. BMP enjoys Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the UN from 1997. Over the last 45 years the organisation has achieved remarkable success in promoting the status of women in Bangladesh at public and private levels.
