Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM)
Founded by Khan Bahadur Ahsanullah (R), the great sufi saint, philosopher and renowned educationist, Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM) has now been singled out as one of largest NGOs in Bangladesh with a mission to establish a society that fosters humanity, spirituality, humility, equality and caring the nature. Since its inception in 1958, it has achieved remarkable successes in alleviating poverty of the disadvantaged poor through interventions in multiple sectors that include agriculture, education, health, WASH, climate change, disaster risk reduction, governance and social empowerment.
Since inception, DAM has gradually diversified its development interventions striving to build its programmes. With its multifaceted and diversified programmes and activities DAM is now in a very unique position to work with the people, particularly the disadvantaged, through need-based services towards improvement of their living conditions. DAM pursues a mission to create conditions for increased access of the target groups and the communities to public and private services. It is now implementing about 54 multi-dimensional development projects in 43 districts of Bangladesh with 7788 fulltime and part-time workforce. Adapting itself to the changing needs and demands of the society, DAM has aligned its activities to support the government in attaining its national development goals and priorities. Besides field-based programmes, DAM operates a number of institutions, hospitals, a university and social enterprises towards contributing to national development.
Dhaka Ahsania Mission being in Consultative Status with UN ECOSOC and in Operational Relationships with UNESCO considers it imperative to work towards achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
